| When Simon Jackson MBE first burst onto the scene in the 1988 Seoul Paralympics he was, in world terms, a relatively unknown player. His devastating Shoulder throw would quickly become known to potential opponents throughout the judo world, yet despite this, his successes on the dojo demonstrated that Simon had truly mastered this technique. Since then he has gone on to win many competitions and has gained many accolades including BBC Sports Team Personality 2000. |
 |
| There are as many people who know Simon through his time on Radio 5 Live as there are those who know him through his judo and this is testament to his unique brand of delivery of down to earth, often humorous and always insightful views on a wide range of issues. |
| Simon has branched out into the world of public speaking with his experience of what it takes to be a world class athlete and champion, his experience of being the first disabled student to be educated mainstream in Rochdale and of his work with the Paralympics committee. |
