Simon Jackson MBE and Barney Storey have won two gold medals in the 2009 BT Paralympic World Cup.  in the Kilometre Time Trial and the Sprint.
Thursday 21st was the Kilo Time Trial event and they blew away the competition with a world class time of 104.029 twice, in heat four and again in the Final almost a full two seconds faster than their nearest rivals and fellow Britons David Readle and Neil Fachie.
On Friday 22nd they met Fachie and Readle again when they reached the Sprint final, once again, beating off strong competition and maintaining the exemplary record of the GB Team ensuring they had enough energy in reserve for the best out of three.  A slow beginning in the first leg signalled the start of a tactical race with the experience of Barney Storey evident throughout, and as the racers speeded up the explosive power from Jackson propelled them passed the finish line to the obvious delight of the crowd. The second leg saw different tactics forcing Jackson and Storey to go faster right from the start and again tactical manouevres were employed, with each attack effectively countered by Jackson and Storey and although they were tested there was an almost inevitability about them taking the second leg and Gold.
After the competition I asked Jackson what the future held and he said "My next big competition will be the Worlds in November, I'm really pleased with these results and I feel I'm up for it."
So as he looks forward to the Worlds in November we congratulate Simon on his current success and say well done!
