JUDO JACKSON TO COMPETE IN PARALYMPIC WORLD CUP - ON A BIKE!!
April 2008
Paralympian athlete Simon Jackson MBE winner of 3 gold medals and 3 times World Champion awarded his MBE in 1996 for his services to Judo.

His training is now taking a different track and he has recently joined the GB cycling team where he is busy preparing himself for competition in this May’s forthcoming Paralympic World Cup.

He had this to say about his newly adopted sport.  “I’m really pleased with how my training is going and the positive comments from Barney Storey my trainer and co rider on the tandem and I’m learning about the technical aspects of the sport and how to improve my speed. I know that I’ve got the strength and stamina to compete at this level and I also know that if I’m going to excel then I‘ve got to concentrate on these techniques.  In my first timed trial I managed to get a time that would see me placed in a very respectable position. I was excited to hear that and it really has given me a new impetus to go on and achieve. I am really looking forward to the competition and can’t wait to get on the track and see how I perform in the heat of the competition”

Simon has been training at the Velodrome in Manchester and is impressed by the venue and facilities there.
